Beef stew baked in dark beer

Yummy crisp beef stew baked in dark beer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef neck, shoulder or loin
  • 1 pc onion (chopped)
  • 5 pcs carrot (cut into slices)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 500 ml dark beer (Guinness)
  • stock cube or broth
  • 3-4 bayleaves
  • 1 tbsp thyme (if you do not have a branch of fresh thyme handy)
  • a pinch of sugar

Take a pan that can be used in the oven too. Fry the meat on preheated oil in smaller portions. After the outside became a little brown put aside. Now comes to sear the onion and carrot. If it is ready add the flour, mix and put the meat back together with the herbs and beer, finally grind into the stock cube or pour in the broth. Preheat the oven to 160°C and bake while covered for 3 hours. Serve with smashed potato and pickles.
